Up And Over the Malahat

I recently took a road trip down to Vancouver Island to visit so friends and find some seafood. I brought some of the ghosts with me. When I took these photos, I was on my way up the Malahat of north from Victoria. It was quite a view.

I almost didn’t stop. I was tired and really wanted to get where I was going. When I saw signs for the lookout pull-off, I said to myself: I’ll take photos with the ghosts on my way back. This is garbage thinking. I wasn’t late or rushing or anything. Sometimes, I find myself talking myself out of things I know I’ll enjoy. It’s easy to listen to that voice, but it’s not wise. Somehow, I told it to shut up and pulled off the highway.

It was worth it. The light was good. The view was amazing. One of the ghosts fell and didn’t break. Perfect.

Taking photos with the ghosts takes practice. The pandemic has kept me so close to home, I really haven’t done much with them. It was such a breath of fresh air, I’m a touch ashamed of my hesitation.
